Summer is over, the holiday season is winding down, and the sports calendar is getting busy again. For affiliate teams, that means more relevant hooks for creatives, more opportunities to test new angles, and more reasons to re-engage audiences.
Based on our own experience across different markets, the MelBet Partners & Affiliates team has selected several September events worth considering when planning traffic campaigns.
The key is not to cover everything. It is better to choose a few strong moments and adapt them to your GEO, audience, and traffic source.
Football Takes Center Stage Again
For LATAM, September naturally starts with football. In Argentina, Torneo Clausura 2026 continues throughout the month, with major clubs creating new traffic opportunities almost every weekend.
For example:
September 5 — Boca Juniors vs. Gimnasia de Mendoza
September 6 — River Plate vs. Independiente Rivadavia
September 12 — Boca Juniors vs. Central Córdoba
September 20 — San Lorenzo vs. Boca Juniors
Local football works well for affiliates because the audience already knows the teams, follows the news, and understands the context. That makes it easier to use straightforward formats: match previews, statistics, head-to-head history, live content, and reactive creatives on matchday.
The same logic applies to other LATAM GEOs. In Venezuela, for example, Liga FUTVE also continues throughout September, offering regular opportunities to work with local sports audiences.
Libertadores and Sudamericana: One of September’s Key Windows
Another period worth watching is September 8–17.
During these dates, the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana take place, with first-leg matches scheduled for September 8–10 and return legs for September 15–17.
For affiliates, this format is especially useful because one match can turn into several communication opportunities.
First comes the build-up.
Then the first-leg result.
After that, predictions for the return leg.
And finally, the decisive match.
Instead of one advertising moment, you get a mini-campaign that can run for several days. This works particularly well for SEO, Telegram, social media, and other content-driven traffic sources where repeated engagement around the same topic can add value. And most importantly, Libertadores and Sudamericana are highly relevant to LATAM audiences and naturally connect several key markets in the region.
Not Just Football: Formula 1
Sports marketing in September does not have to revolve entirely around football.
The month is also busy for Formula 1.
September 4–6 — Italian Grand Prix in Monza
September 11–13 — Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid
September 24–26 — Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku
Three race weekends create three separate opportunities to test a different type of sports creative.
Motorsport brings a completely different visual language: speed, drivers, competition, circuits, countdowns, and split-second decisions. For media buying teams, this is a simple way to move beyond standard football creatives and test new audience segments without leaving the sports vertical.
A Big Event Does Not Automatically Mean a Strong Campaign
One thing we see repeatedly in our own work is that a major sporting event alone does not guarantee performance.
Choosing the match or race is only the first step.
You still need to understand:
- what really matters to users in a specific GEO;
- which teams and athletes they recognize;
- what creative format feels natural to them;
- which language and tone of voice work best;
- and what happens after the click.
- This is especially important in LATAM.
Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, and other markets may share a huge passion for sport, but that does not make them one identical audience.
At MelBet Partners & Affiliates, we recommend looking not only at the scale of the event, but first of all at its relevance to the specific market.
September Is a Month to Scale – and to Test
September is valuable because of its variety. You can scale a proven football campaign, build several waves of communication around the Libertadores, or test Formula 1 as a new direction. The main idea is to treat the sports calendar not simply as a list of fixtures, but as a map of potential entry points into your audience.
At MelBet Partners & Affiliates, we work with partners across different markets, offer flexible cooperation models, and support teams throughout the process.
If you are already planning your September campaigns, now is the time to choose the key dates, prepare your creatives, and turn the new sports season into new traffic with MelBet Partners & Affiliates.
