Following its new strategic goal, the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS) has become United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS). At the General Meeting of the organization held this week during the World Lottery Summit in Vancouver, Canada, members unanimously decided to approve the new name and brand identity of the association.
While the new name better communicates what the association is and stands for, the full rebranding reflects the significant transformation taking place in its activities. There’s a new positioning and strategy that has evolved from the initial monitoring to a complete global ecosystem of services offered. These range from education, training and prevention programs, to knowledge building, intelligence studies and stakeholder influence management.
Created in 2015, the GLMS is an international association of state lotteries conceived to safeguard the integrity and core values of sports from corruption, specifically, from the manipulation of sports competitions. Through the collective effort of its global membership, GLMS serves its stakeholders in their quest to protect the integrity of sports. This dedicated service includes: strategic and legal input, engagement in concrete projects in the field and in policy-making, and facilitation of cross-border sharing of information on suspicious sports betting patterns, rapidly disseminating essential data. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, GLMS has operational hubs in Europe, Asia, and North America. Currently, the group has 33 members, including Individual Members, comprising lotteries that offer sports betting; two Collective Members, namely the World Lottery Association (WLA) and the European Lotteries (EL), and a number of Associate Members.
Regarding this renewal, Ludovico Calvi, President, GLMS, highlighted: “This is a fantastic achievement that will promote and give a clear understanding of our services and products to the different audiences with whom we interact. ULIS, as a new branding design, conveys a powerful message that the lottery world is united to safeguard the integrity of sport competitions. The new identity is a result of a thoughtfully constructed strategy that is being implemented by the General Secretary, Luca Esposito.”
