Which solutions did AMD presented at recent CES 2024?
At Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), we’re expanding the era of AI PCs with new products for creators, gamers, professionals and more, so we have reinforced our leadership with new announcements. Additionally, we have showcased some of our latest releases, communicated in December 2023 during our ‘Advancing AI’ event, including the Ryzen 8040 Series mobile processors, which feature high-end performance from everyday productivity to content creation.
What do you think about the main technology trends discussed during educational conferences of the event?
I think that, without a doubt, Artificial Intelligence (AI) was one of the main mega-trends at CES. We are seeing an increase in its adoption by solutions aimed at both companies and end users. At AMD, we are clear about this, and we are setting the pace of innovation in this regard.
According to a survey conducted by your company, more than 2 in 3 IT managers are increasing their investments in artificial intelligence technologies. What solutions did you launch in 2023 that aimed to make the most of AI?
For our company, AI is a key part of our roadmap and our innovations. We are uniquely positioned to propel the growing demand for computing driven by the proliferation of AI in the cloud, edge, and end devices. We are bringing our technology, experience, and execution to the vast AI market, and this is reflected in the launches we made in 2023 around this technology.
It’s clear that AI adoption is expanding faster than any other technology since the advent of the Internet and is transforming the way we use devices for productivity, creativity, and gaming. What will be the main benefits for consumers?
Mainly, AI allows us to enhance experiences and bring greater productivity. Whether we are talking about better quality in games, improved editing programs, virtual assistants that understand our needs, for example, or even thinking about productivity when working and process optimization. AI helps us maximize and improve our experiences, unlocking new levels of performance. On the other hand, I believe one of the main benefits for consumers will be in security, since by having processors that incorporate AI from their architecture, they do not need to connect to the cloud to be able to access generative experiences. Now, all of that can be centralized directly from the hardware.
Since the introduction of ChatGPT in November 2022, the world has realized the potential of artificial intelligence. Right now, AI can be used for content creation, design, code generation, among others. In this sense, which applications of use will be seen in 2024?
According to a study carried out by the consulting firm Gartner, the trends in generative artificial intelligence and the development of intelligent applications will have a greater impact on companies during 2024. In addition, it ensures that, by 2026, more than 80% of companies will have used APIs. or generative AI models or deployed applications in production environments, up from less than 5% in 2023. In relation to generative AI, we believe that this will be a year to take another step on this technology, thinking about a generative AI native to each computer and processor, which no longer depends on the cloud to learn from the behaviors of the people, but can do it from the device’s own experience of use. Then again, I think that the focus this year will be on the application of AI to improve industrial processes, to give free rein to creativity, and also thinking about widespread use of optimization of the user experience.
Your company considers that AI is key to the development of all industries. What do you sense will be the main verticals to benefit from this technology?
At AMD, we believe that all sectors in general can benefit from this technology, but we are already seeing its weight at an industrial level. I can also mention in the design and creation of content, in application development, engineering, and architecture.
