Argentina: Lotteries propose ‘Green Light to Responsible Gambling’

In Argentina, all lotteries will illuminate their buildings in green today, in order to respond to this year’s slogan, ‘Green Light to Responsible Gambling.’

On Responsible Gaming Day, different operators in the country promote awareness, information and education activities for players.

Every February 17th, Argentine provinces come together to convey their message in pursuit of a healthy, recreational and committed gaming. Since 2011, ALEA, the entity that joins all the country’s lotteries, has a Social Responsibility Coordinating Unit, currently chaired by Dr. Raul Quiroga, who is also Head of the Department of Responsible Gaming of the Lottery of Cordoba.

This effort also includes EntreteneRSE (https://www.entretenerse.com.ar/), an NGO that promotes responsible management oriented towards sustainability and its communication in the entertainment industry.

In Argentina, all lotteries will illuminate their buildings in green today, in order to respond to this year’s slogan, ‘Green Light to Responsible Gambling.’ Most institutions in the country have a Comprehensive Responsible Gaming Program. One of them is IAFAS (province of Entre Rios), which will carry out various information and awareness activities within related to the concept ‘Responsible gaming, healthy fun.’ For its part, the Lottery of the City of Buenos Aires (LOTBA) has been campaigning for gamblers on public roads under the slogan ‘Accepting your problem with gaming is taking care of yourself,’ in order to capture the attention and sensitize those who have problems with gaming. At the same time, from February 17th to 21st, it will develop a series of actions that seek to show the benefits of playing with responsibility, emphasizing on preventing behaviors related to the problematic gaming. There will be dissemination and awareness campaigns at the Palermo Racecourse, as well as recreational spaces at the Racecourse itself and at the Casino Buenos Aires, with different events and gaming stations in order to propel healthy and responsible gambling. Moreover, there will be promotion tasks for gaming responsibility in the over 1,200 official Lottery Agencies of the City, with the message of prevention: “If you turn everything into a bet, you are thinking too much about gaming.”

Each year, on February 17th, the ‘International Responsible Gaming Day’ is commemorated. This originated in 2008, with the celebration of the first edition organized by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) and aims to promote reflections on good gaming habits and disseminate some helpful tools to bettors and their environments.

In Argentina, the objective is to publicize the prevention and orientation experiences, aimed at people with problematic gambling and the community in general, reaffirming the social commitment of the operators that work in different provinces of the country and Lottery institutes in the promotion of safer gaming.
