How have you experienced this special edition of this show regarding clients participation and being back face to face having such an important meaning to LATAM markets and around the world?
GABRIEL: To us, firstly, going back to in-person activities affected us in two ways. The first one, obviously, being back face-to-face to events where networking enhances. The second one is that, of course, all the participants, not only the exhibitors but the ones who attend as visitors are very happy because these are reunions happening after so many video conferences, Zoom meetings, e-mails, and you realize and notice that because of the smiles in their faces aftergreetings, that are much more than just a “Hi, how you’ve been? Long time no see”. I think those two are the most important. After that, of course, it is true that all travel requirements and wearing masks, all requirements to be able to have access to the event that made the face-to-face situation a little bit harder. However, I think it is a good starting point with high attendance which makes this event, as a witness of voluminosity and quantity, the first and best of many to be, because it looks successful.
How are you working the strong presence, the Continent8 Technology’s progress in LATAM and how has the relationship with American clients been? What’s your vision on the company’s position in both regions?
JORGE: The company has a strong position in the United States market and now is present in 23 states. That allows us to grow in Latin America as well, because many strong companies in the US need to arrive to LatinAmerican markets. Even more to the regulated ones that nowadays some are limited. But if it keeps growing,as we see more operators joining in Colombia, we see high interest with Provinces and the City in Argentina, I would say that is what has grown the most. We have done good in the show. If I had to compare it to another one done years ago, there are less people. But it is just the second day. We’ll see how it goes today. But the first day was a little slow. However, it gave us the chance to talk and share more time with clients, bringing a new feature that I find I really like because it helps to build a bond with the client and not having to end a call every 30 minutes and take another or having three or four clients at the stand at the same time. This one is much more organized and higher in quality, considering the existent limitations.
As people in the industry know, the products and services that Continent8 Technology provides it’d be good if you remembered,What solution are you presenting here, particularly, always responding to the client’s needs?
GABRIEL: Continent8 stands out for being a wide service. What I mean is, Continent8 will offer you the data center, where in itno matter if it is about colocation services, or public/private offered by Continent8plus connections, if necessary, with AWS. As well as all the network to interconnect to 70 service points of the data center that Continent8 has.
Within the connectivity, it will offer everything for protection so the traffic is one hundred percent safe. In other words, protection against BOS attacks (?), WAF protection. Everything related to attacks analysis and including a specific part of the company called CA Secur. Therefore, everything provided is what is necessary for the clients to bring their software, with their platform, with their enterprise, with what they want to develop on a one hundred percent secure environment, with one hundred percent availability which guarantees that the customer only has to dedicate himself to do his business, Continent8 takes care of the rest.
One thing that has surprised us this week was the worldwide drop of social networks experienced around the world, which generated daze in people and turned to alternative channels and its consequent traffic problem. How can Continent8 avoid these events?
GABRIEL: Continent8’s strategy consist in being prepared for the peaks and not for the lows. Therefore, the entire network is designed in such way that works supporting the maximum traffic consumption and operation, that a business can have and, as we all know, are at times of large events such as sports finals, different competitions, either poker or any other show or stadium event. The network just works as a system of communicating vessels in which as a connection begins to load, the system begins to redirect service to another base of its network, guaranteeing latency and availability in traffic, using this we ensure the user’s experience remains intact no matter if it is at a peak, or at a low moment, for the user in the end there is no difference.
What future projects do you have and what challenges do you see at a technological level in Latin America considering the growing demand for content and obviously the technological improvement of the systems?
DIEGO: Well, there is a very interesting project in Puerto Rico where we are already very advanced. We are having meetings with the regulator, negotiating with data centers already located in the island to carry out all the specifications and conditions that Continent8 gives it to fulfill specifications required by our clients. In the case of Latin America, the lack of regulations and establishment of clear technical requirements, limits our presence. Because the services do not need to be specifically harassed with certain requirements or around certain location. Therefore, as the regulations indifferent countries are progressing, that will help Continent8 to position itself. Since it comes with more than twenty years of experience in the United States, in Europe, in all regulated markets.
