‘Persevere and you shall triumph’ seems to have been the motto on which Gaming and Media News (the initial name of the company) stood to move forward without hesitation on the path of promoting a revolution in the way of developing content for the gaming industry on the markets of Latin America, the United States and Europe. When this renowned multiplatform took its first steps, back in June 2019, the company was clear about its vision, its mission and its principles. Today, two years later, G&M News claims more than ever that philosophy of working by and on behalf of the sector.
After that start, there was a tireless effort of creating exclusive articles, with in-depth interviews, market reports and coverage of the main gaming events. While, from the beginning, one of the main services of G&M News was its websites, with original content in Spanish and English, and their corresponding newsletters, the other business aim was to have a very active presence in social networks, giving immediate and massive visibility to the articles of the companies and the internal proprietary reports.
In 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic postponed all possible contacts between industry executives at face-to-face events. To respond to this unprecedented situation, G&M News immediately launched its YouTube channel, developing innovative and attractive spaces which tried to combine information about the products and performance of companies in this difficult context with a more personal approach, understanding that each company not only has managers and salespeople, but also human beings with interesting life stories that deserve to be told. So under the ‘G&M Learning’ program, the now acclaimed ‘G&M Webinar Series’ (panels of experts in Spanish, English and Portuguese discussing topics of interest to the industry) and ‘G&M 1on1’ (personal and professional interviews with global gaming leaders) were launched.
TAKING A DEEPER LOOK AT THE BUSINESS AND ITS PLAYERS
Apart from these video contents, G&M News’ strategy has always been to distribute the focus between companies who create the business and people who consume it. That’s why we have been including interesting articles for the B2B and B2C segments, also understanding (even before the pandemic) the importance of verticals such as Esports, virtual reality, poker, daily fantasy sports and video games. Added to that was the decision to promote and teach about affiliate programs established by different companies throughout Latin America.
Month by month, during 2020, G&M News grew in number of readers on its websites and expanded its presence on social networks. Internally, and as more online and land-based gaming customers joined us, our work team also enlarged and strengthened. In addition, the ‘Experts of the Industry’ and ‘Women of the Sector’ sections gained in popularity. By the end of 2020, the company reached the leadership position (that it continues to hold today) among all Ibero-American gaming media in the professional network LinkedIn, the most used by the members of the industry.
CONSOLIDATION AND PERMANENT EVOLUTION
In 2021, G&M News made two key decisions: on the one hand, closing new associations and partnerships with relevant entities and organizations in the sector; on the other, launching its website in Portuguese in February of that year. Regarding the first issue, the firm closed content promotion agreements with gaming associations such as Coljuegos (Colombia) and ALEA (Argentina), in addition to the solid bonds developed with the main event organizers, such as the SiGMA Group, Clarion Gaming, 3A Productions and Reed Exhibitions, among others. About the second step, the regulatory advance of gambling in the Brazilian market and the large number of contacts of G&M News in that country led to the launch of the website in Portuguese, with the goal of generating exclusive content for the Brazilian and the Portuguese markets. Thus, in less than two years, G&M News became the only media in the global gaming industry to simultaneously produce and offer original content in all three languages: Spanish, English and Portuguese. Since then, there was an explosion in the number of followers of the multiplatform, with more than 11,000 monthly views of the content displayed on our websites, newsletters and social networks: LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
OUR GRATITUDE TO THE INDUSTRY
Of course, this growth was also built on the constant support of companies in the online and land-based sectors. Our firm is now consolidated and has a fervent and passionate dynamic to keep on producing excellent academic material. G&M News is strong and determined to continue fulfilling its original commitment of working for and on behalf of the industry.
